Protoria Studios today announced the launch of Adventures in the Light & Dark, an innovative VR narrative experience that transforms reading into an immersive journey. Designed for PC VR with optional desktop support, the title invites players to step inside a living novel, turning each page by hand while surrounded by atmospheric environments, ambient soundscapes, and surreal scenery that evolves alongside the story.
Unlike traditional visual novels or narrative games, Adventures in the Light & Dark presents a full 20,000-word original novel as an immersive VR experience, allowing readers to experience the mood, setting, and atmosphere of each chapter from within the world itself. The result is a new form of interactive storytelling that combines literature, virtual reality, and environmental immersion into a single experience.
The story follows Theo, who awakens on the shore of a fog-covered island with no memory of how he arrived. As he searches for answers, he encounters unsettling landscapes, bizarre characters, and the mysterious Phaser Reach, known as the “Greatest Space Station North of the Harbor.” Blending psychological mystery, dark comedy, and dreamlike storytelling, the novel unfolds through exploration of richly atmospheric settings designed to complement every page.
Built specifically for comfortable seated play, Adventures in the Light & Dark features intuitive hand-controlled page turning, immersive environmental audio, automatic progress saving, and optional desktop compatibility for players without a VR headset.
